General Update
Shasta High School Students Against Genocide and the Shasta High School Orchestra benefit concert was a gathering of community members of all ages and faiths for the Darfuri cause. Under the leadership of Ms. Judy Champagne and Mr. Lou Pocari, the teachers at Shasta High, the students joined together and worked passionately to produce this benefit concert.
In addition to great music and soloists the Students Against Genocide read accounts from genocide survivors and showed a video of Camp Kounoungo resident Adam who is making the bricks by hand and collecting the books for the library. Adam is a teacher that is currently displaced because of the violence in Darfur.
The event raised over $3,000 which has been sent to aid in the formation of a secondary school in Camp Kounoungo.
