Dream for Darfur Olympic Torch Relay in Redding
Monday, November 12th, 2007On Friday we have an opportunity to show our community that we care about what is happening in Darfur. China is Sudan’s largest supporter. Its trading with Sudan has more than doubled in 2007. Most weapons in Sudan are either made in China and sold to the Sudanese or China is overseeing production in Sudan.
On Friday we can join thousands who have participated in relays in Chad, Rwanda, Armenia, and throughout the United States. But we need you to meet with us in front of the Shasta County Court House at 4:00 PM and walk with us to the Redding City Hall. We do need torch carriers but, If for some reason you can’t be there at 4:00 PM or cannot walk the distance, then please join us on the lawn in front of the Redding City Hall at 5:00 PM for a candle lighting ceremony.
We need a strong showing to let the rest of Shasta County and the country know that in Redding we do care about China’s involvement in the genocide in Darfur!
